Our electricians are comprehensively trained!

    Our professionally trained electricians begin by learning the basics of the electrical trade. The training program consists of:

    • A minimum of 900 hours of classroom training
    • A minimum of 8000 hours of on the job training
    • Current OSHA safety training
    • First aid and CPR training
    • Electrical code update training

    The entire training process takes our electricians 5 years to complete!

    During the first year of training our apprentices learn the basics of the electrical industry, including:

    • Basic electrical theory
    • Proper safety procedures
    • Proper use of trade specific tools and materials
    • Residential blueprint reading and understanding
    • Dangers involved with the electrical trade
    • Importance of federal, state and local electrical codes

    During the second year of training:

    • Review of the previous years training
    • Proper use of electrical test instruments
    • Principles of electrical circuits
    • Conduit bending and safe practices
    • Transformer theory and function
    • Commercial facility electrical systems and design
    • Commercial blueprint reading and understanding
    • Understanding federal, state and local electrical codes

    During the third year of training:

    • Review of previous years training
    • Electrical safety / OSHA requirements
    • Industrial electricity principals and procedures
    • Industrial blueprints reading and understanding
    • Grounding and bonding of complex electrical systems
    • Transformer selection and function for a given project
    • Using federal, state and local electrical codes for planning and building process

    During the fourth year of training:

    • Electrical motors and motor control devices
    • Programmable logic controllers
    • Industrial conduit and wiring methods
    • Air conditioning and refrigeration
    • Industrial federal, state and local codes and practices

    During the fifth year of training:

    • Fire alarm systems and components
    • Instrumentation and pneumatics
    • Security systems and alarms
    • Structured cabling for systems
    • Solar power generation
    • High voltage systems and safe testing
    • Health care notification systems
    • Significant code changes and understanding
